The Second Public
Meeting scheduled for Camp Bullis Joint Land Use
Study
The City and the Camp Bullis Joint Land Use Study
Executive Committee are hosting a public meeting to
discuss the Camp Bullis Joint Land Use Study (JLUS)
at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20 at the Reagan
High School Cafeteria, located at 19000 Ronald
Reagan Drive.
Interested residents and stakeholders can learn
about the JLUS program and provide input on the
issues and opportunities related to land use
compatibility around the Camp Bullis area. The Camp
Bullis JLUS includes portions of the City of San
Antonio, Bexar, Comal, and Kendall counties.
Funded by the Department of Defense, Office of
Economic Adjustment, the JLUS is a collaborative
planning effort between active military
installations, surrounding counties and cities and
other affected agencies. "We are committed to
preserving the military's mission in San Antonio,”
said Councilman Louis Rowe. “This meeting provides
an excellent opportunity to let the community know
about all the intense efforts we are undergoing to
protect Camp Bullis,” he added.
Subsequent forums will be scheduled in 2009. For

Military installations are critical
to local economies, generating thousands of jobs and
millions of dollars in economic activity and tax revenue
annually. In past instances, incompatible development
has been a factor in the curtailment of training
operations and restructuring of mission critical
components to other installations. To protect the
missions of military installations and the health of the
economies and industries that rely on them,
collaboration and joint planning between installations
and local communities must occur to address
encroachment.
